Maureen’s Haven Summer Benefit Set for July 11. OLA’s Minerva Perez to be Honored

Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach will host its third annual Summer Benefit Cocktail Party on Saturday, July 11, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Southampton Inn, bringing together supporters, volunteers and community leaders to raise funds for programs serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness across the East End.

The evening will feature cocktails, chef-inspired hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and live entertainment by acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer John Virag. Guests also will have the opportunity to meet Maureen’s Haven staff, board members and volunteers while learning more about the organization’s mission and services.

This year, Maureen’s Haven will honor Minerva Perez, executive director of OLA of Eastern Long Island, for her longstanding support of both the organization and the Latino community throughout the East End. Perez has worked closely with Maureen’s Haven on numerous initiatives and challenging cases, helping connect vulnerable individuals and families with critical resources and support.

“Her dedication to building an equitable and inclusive community for all is evident through her hard work and perseverance,” organizers said in announcing the honor.

Since 2002, Maureen’s Haven has served individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout eastern Suffolk County, including Southampton, East Hampton, Southold and Riverhead. The organization provides case management services and programs designed to help guests move toward self-sufficiency and stable housing.

During the winter months, Maureen’s Haven operates its Emergency Winter Shelter Program in partnership with houses of worship, community centers and volunteers across the East End. For many participants, the program provides access to warm shelter and nutritious meals during the coldest months of the year.

As the only East End agency solely dedicated to serving the homeless community, Maureen’s Haven relies on donations and community support to sustain its services and programs.

Tickets for the benefit are $200. Sponsorship opportunities and silent auction donations are also available. For more information, visit maureenshaven.org, email dan@maureenshaven.org or call 631-727-6831.

What a meaningful event to share with the community. It’s inspiring to see organizations recognize dedicated individuals while bringing people together for important causes. I recently read a related community story on a Texas-based review blog attn2detail and it provided another thoughtful perspective on local impact and involvement.
