Rapid Response

Operation Stand and Protect
In response to the recent rise in ICE arrests on Long Island, OLA is activating a peaceful, in-person rapid response plan to stand with our immigrant community.

Through Operation Stand and Protect, trained local volunteers will be prepared to witness, document, and accompany individuals and families during moments of crisis — always with care, calm, and courage.

This is not a virtual or remote support program. It is grounded in direct presence and community care.
Below are some examples of what this support may include:

-
Driving community members to medical or legal appointments
-
Providing court or medical accompaniment
-
Serving as a court observer to ensure transparency
-
Delivering food to families in need
-
Supporting transportation or accompaniment to school district meetings
-
Assisting with OLA’s community-based programming
-
Attending and speaking at Town or Village Board meetings to support policies that protect families
-
Offering housing to individuals or families facing a housing crisis
-
Temporarily accepting parental custody designation in urgent situations
-
Responding in person to document ICE activity or other community crises
Our goal is simple: to protect our community with presence and peace.
When we show up together, we send a clear message — our community is not alone.
