Collaboration with Organización Latino Americana of Eastern Long Island
The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC), in partnership with OLA (Organización Latino Americana) of Eastern Long Island, will co-present an evening of comedy featuring acclaimed Latin comedian Pedro Gonzalez on Saturday, May 30. The event will include two performances: an English-language show at 5 p.m. followed by a Spanish-language show at 8 p.m.
Pedro Gonzalez is a Colombian-American comedian based out of New York City. Besides touring the country and selling out venues as a stand-up comic, Pedro is a staff writer on Freevee’s hit show “Primo,” based on the life of New York Times best-selling author Shea Serrano. He was a finalist on “StandUp NBC” and “New York’s Funniest,” and also has the honor of being the first Latin American immigrant comedian to appear on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
This special co-presentation reflects the ongoing partnership between WHBPAC and OLA and affirms both organizations’ shared commitment to cultural equity, representation and access to the arts. In 2023, the organizations partnered to present Venezuelan singer Nella, while collaborating on OLA’s Latino Film Festival, screening “Encanto en Espanol,” and “La Laguna Rosa.”
“How we choose to show up for one another — in the best of times and in the most challenging — defines the true spirit of our community,” said Minerva Perez, executive director of Ola of Eastern Long Island. “Bringing a comedy show to the East End in both English and Spanish is a reminder that laughter is healing, restorative, and deeply unifying. The simple, physical act of laughing can transform an evening and invite light into even the heaviest of days. We are grateful for our ongoing collaboration with WHBPAC on this event and for the many cultural partnerships we have built together over the years that strengthen and celebrate our diverse community.”
WHBPAC Executive Director Julienne Penza-Boone added, “Laughter has a way of bringing us together across cultures, languages, and lived experiences. With Pedro Gonzalez, we’re creating space for connection, understanding, and joy. This is what our mission is all about: making culture accessible, inclusive, and something everyone can be part of.”
